I am very happy to contribute to your website Frank, with a 'thank you' for the work that you did last Thursday, 20th November.  Our boiler needed servicing, and you dealt with that without fuss, talking me through all that I should do to maximise efficiency and ensure safety.   If you had charged me for the time you actually spent advising me on all the little 'extras' here, the bill would have been higher than you charged. Unusually, you did not try to persuade me to upgrade the system, but advised against more spending. I'd happily recommend you to anyone in need of a friendly, unhurried and professional service.  Than You !.

Hi Frank

Thank you for your prompt visit last month regarding the problems that I had with my boiler. Due to your call to the boiler manufacturer on my behalf, they sent an engineer out to replace the PCB circuit board free of charge, even though the boiler was outside the warranty period. The boiler seems to be working fine now and , thanks to you, I avoided an expensive repair bill.

A friendly and reliable service provided. Quick response and did his very best to fit in around my work commitments.

Took the time to explain exactly what he was doing and why. A very reasonable bill for the amount of work done.

Overall a very professional service the likes of which can be hard to find in the plumbing industry.

I had a problem with my heating system in that no heat was getting down stairs.

I thought that the problem was most likely that I needed a power flush to clean out the downstairs radiators. Frank came and looked at the system and diagnosed problems with the valve in the airing cupboard. This needed the system to be drained down. Whilst this was being done I also got Frank to install thermostatically controlled valves. When finished the heating still did not come down stairs. Frank came back and said he would replace the main pump (which was only 2 years old) to see if this solved the problem - on the basis that if it did not I would not pay for the new pump. The new pump was installed and the problem solved. The heat started to come down to the down stairs radiators.

“Having a 10 month old baby and no central heating meant I needed a plumber quick, and I know from experience unless it’s the hottest week of August they are all booked out for ages. Going through the Yellow pages I tried plumber after plumber and either got no reply or was told they would not be able to come for at least 2 weeks.

Thankfully I then found Frank Cooke’s number and was amazed when someone actually answered the phone and said they would be able to come round in a day or two! When Frank arrive I went through the basic problems I was experiencing in my best “layman” terms and Frank told we a few things he thought it might be.

He told me straight away that often when fixing heating problems when you replace one broken part it’s often not the end of the story and there may be other problems to fix as well. Frank explained he would not just start ripping parts out and charging me to replace them in the hope that it fixed my problem, but would carefully try and diagnose the problem before it cost me loads of money. He started looking through our central hearting system, carefully explaining how things work and what the issue might be.

After taking the boiler apart it was clear it had not been serviced for a few years (not since we moved in anyway) and that the heat exchanger would need cleaning. He explained this took a while and would normally cost £45 for a full service, but then explained how I could clean it and let me get on with it while he fixed the real problem!

After a few hours, a pump replacement and a quick boiler ignition fix it was all up and working again in the same day he came, no waiting around for parts like I’d expected. I was very impressed with how Frank took time to explain what he was doing to me as he went along and how brutally honest he was about my system.

The best thing was I now actually have a plumber I would use again, and even recommend, thanks Frank”

Mr Cooke has done work for us in the past, always to a very high standard. Obviously, that is the reason why we have him back to do more work.

I wish to thank him and comment about a job which was completed yesterday. After a kitchen re-fit, earlier in the week, we were left in a very annoying position by the kitchen company, as they refused to fit the pipe work for the new sink, as the waste pipes did not meet, the new sink being deeper than the old. In addition to this, we had 2 leaks.

I phoned Mr Cooke to ask for his help and he came to look that same day, to assess the problem. The leak was an easy fix, but the waste was more complex. Knowing what had to be done, he went away again and arranged to come back with a fitment, to check it would be ok. Once that was established, he returned yesterday to complete the job for us. The finished result is brilliant and we are very happy. We were up and running and leak free in just 48 hours.

As with any qualified tradesman, you pay for their skill and Mr Cooke is no exception to this rule. However, he always explains exactly what needs to be done, his prices are explained and he never leaves a job until he is sure all is ok. In our particular case, he has even written a brief report of the work carried out, to assist us with our battle with the kitchen company concerned.

There is nothing hidden, check his website if you are unsure and everything is laid out there clearly for all to read. We are very happy and would not hesitate to call him back.

Many thanks for repairing my kitchen taps last Thursday.  I appreciated being told up-front your charges, what the job could entail, and how long it could take.  And the running commentary on what you were doing while making the repairs was re-assuring.  Thanks too for discovering and repairing the leaking mains tap and advising me about the hot water turn-off tap.

I read in the Sunday Times that anyone without training/qualifications can call themselves a plumber.  That is worrying.  I was thankful to find the web-site www.registeredplumber.com  which gave me confidence that the plumbers listed there were qualified and reliable. 

Now I learn that not all plumbers carry insurance!  It amazes me that this is not a legal requirement for plumbers, electricians, etc.

Thank you again for your help.  Your name and number are now in my book for the next time I have a plumbing problem!

We'd just like to say a BIG thank-you for getting our heating back in order so quickly. We called you at 9pm Thursday, and despite your busy schedule you still managed to fit us in the following day, with heat restored by 2.30pm.

You hear about so many plumbing horror stories on TV these days, that it's refreshing to know there are still good, honest, skilled tradesmen out there that aren't going to rip you off. Thanks too for your advice about moving our boiler; we'll take heed of these when that time comes.
