Now to some of you this is the thing you plug your gas cooker into and yes it may of been there years as this one with no problem, but it is not fitted to manufacture's instructions nor British Standards. Biggest problem it is not fixed to the wall and on closer inspection the supply pipe was not sleeved or protected in anyway plus as you can see the bayonet fitting is not pointing down. The reason it should be pointing down is the fitting is self closing when the hose is removed and is designed so the customer/home owner can remove the cooker to decorate/clean or moving home. if debris fall into the fitting it could leak when the cooker is re-connected. If it's pointing down it can't fill with any dirt or grit. These standards are in place for your safety. This installation had every thing wrong along with only having 18mb WP with three rings working, the SP was a nice 22mb with a working pressure of 21mb at the meter. No doubt it was fed in 15mm copper tube from the front of the house to the back, this supply also ran the boiler supplied by British Gas but completed by sub-contractors. The previous cooker had been fitted three years ago.
